Twas The Night Before Jesus...

I was reading a story called "Twas the Night Before Jesus" to my son the other night. It had some weird wording, some not-so-good theology, and was a little over his head, so I decided to write my own version. I wanted to share it with you so we could all remember the true meaning of CHRISTmas!

Twas the night before Jesus, and all through the town
Everyone was wondering when God would come down
For they had been told of a Savior's birth
That would happen soon, here, on the earth
Joseph and Mary were traveling to be
In Bethlehem town, where all could see
The birth of their son, Jesus, by name
Who would save us all from sin and from shame
When they finally arrived there late that night
There wasn't a place to rest anywhere in sight
A small dirty stable was where they were told to go
Not at all glorious, humble and low
Shepherds and Kings came from far and near
To see the baby of which they did hear
They gave him gifts that they did bring
Gifts that were fit for a worthy, noble King
As the stories of old said what was true
The baby had come, for this they knew
Some didn't know him, some didn't understand
That God was now flesh and God was now man
For the Savior of all had come down to be
The Father & The Son in a little baby
A star shone above where Jesus did lay
To represent why we celebrate this Christmas Day
Jesus had come into darkness to shine his True Light
